"I Have Not Begun to Fight!" -- Charles J. Andres

John Paul Jones leading cutlass charge from "Bonhomme Richard" to the British frigate "Serapis" uttering the famous phrase: "I have not yet begun to fight!" Given in response to the Captain of the "Serapis" asking if Jones is ready to surrender yet. The "Bonhomme Richard" was sunk, but Jones took over the "Serapis".

This illustration was done for the cover of Shipmate magazine a publication for the alumni of the U.S. Naval Academy during the 1950's, Capt. Philip Wakeman, Editor.

Jones was posed for by Dexter Abbott. The man in the red head gear by Homer Stevens, The man with no hair, Carlton Matthews all of North Berwick, Maine
